On 12 January 2017 an article headed “Linklaters tightlipped over associate linked to ‘verbal abuse’ on train” identified Thomas Longstaff in connection with a police request for information following an alleged incident on a train. It was not our intention to suggest criminal wrongdoing on behalf of Mr Longstaff and we are happy to make clear that police subsequently found no case to answer. We apologise to Mr Longstaff for any embarrassment caused.
