In reply to COP lawyer. Totally agree! There is a whole other side to Court of Protection which I would categorise as falling under 'Health and Welfare'. The aim of this article is to cover the role of a financial Deputy appointed by the Court of Protection only.

The article doesn’t really talk about the more interesting work done in the COP in relation to welfare issues, which often concerns arguments around human rights. This includes, for example, determining mental capacity disputes, determining the lawfulness of the deprivation of a person’s liberty and other restrictions on their rights and freedoms, and Serious Medical Treatment applications / disputes such as the withdrawal of life sustaining treatment.
