However, I often find myself quoting the words of professor Danielle George, who heads up the AI team at Manchester University – that team is building the AI technology that will go up on Mars.

In professor Danielle George’s opinion, we should not fear AI because, whatever that technology may ultimately go on to do for mankind, the power of the human brain is far greater than any computer.

According to professor Danielle George, if the human brain were a song (metaphorically speaking) it would take over a trillion years to download.

This hopefully means that the most powerful intelligence of all is resting between our human ears, and there is nothing artificial about it.

I am therefore much comforted by the thought that however powerful AI technology becomes, the “fluid intelligence” and innovative mind that you, and others like you, demonstrate in your thinking and analysis, will find the solutions and the legislative checks needed to manage the risks and opportunities posed by AI technology.
